CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati 2 have signed defender Jordi Govea to an MLS NEXT Pro contract following a successful trial with the team. Govea will join the 2s pending league and federation approval and acceptance of an ITC and visa. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Govea joins FCC 2 after a three-year stay with Welsh side Swansea City, primarily featuring for the team's U-19s. The wing-back made five appearances for the U-21s during the 2018 Premier League 2 season and one appearance in the EFL Trophy competition.
The Ecuadorian defender spent most of his youth career in the Real Madrid Academy playing for the Spanish giants from 2011-2018. Govea made four appearances for Madrid in the UEFA Youth League, playing 252 minutes, and contributing 2 assists.
The Ecuadorian defender was most recently on trial with Birmingham City of the English Championship before coming to Cincinnati and signing with FCC 2.
