CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati 2 have signed 2023 MLS SuperDraft pick Hunter Morse to an MLS NEXT Pro contract, the club announced today. Per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Morse, who was selected in the second round of the draft, joins the Orange and Blue from Western Michigan University where he played one season with the Broncos following a graduate transfer from Michigan State University.
At Western Michigan, Morse helped lead the Broncos to a 16 win season, the program’s highest mark since 2017. Morse played all 21 games for the Broncos allowing just 10 goals on the year, highlighted by an eight save performance against Louisville in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. His .884 save percentage led all Division I goalkeepers.
Morse made 38 starts for Michigan State in four years in East Lansing, making his collegiate debut for the Spartans in a substitute appearance against Canisius in 2018. In his final season with the Spartans, Morse started 11 matches, making at least five saves in four matches.
Morse played his youth soccer for the Michigan Wolves where he won a U.S. Youth Soccer State Championship and Regional Championship during the 2013-2014 season. Morse was also a participant in FC Cincinnati’s Pro Goalkeeper Combine in December.
