FC Cincinnati 2 to play friendly at Fort Wayne FC
FCC 2 will travel to Indiana to face DaMarcus Beasley’s USL League Two side
CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati 2 will travel to Fort Wayne, Ind. on June 7 to face Fort Wayne FC in a friendly match, the clubs announced today. The Orange and Blue are in the midst of their first season in MLS NEXT Pro, and Fort Wayne begins their second season in USL League Two on May 10 against Kings Hammer FC.
“I’m looking forward to playing Fort Wayne FC,” said Tyrone Marshall, Head Coach of FC Cincinnati 2. “It’s great for our team to play against a variety of opponents, and Fort Wayne offers us that challenge outside of MLS NEXT Pro to test our group.”
Fort Wayne native DaMarcus Beasley, an icon of the U.S. Men’s National Team and MLS, joined the ownership group in 2020. Fort Wayne FC played their first season in the pre-professional USL League Two in 2021, and the club plans to join the professional ranks by 2024.
“This friendly is a great opportunity for our group to travel and experience an exciting soccer environment,” said Chris Albright, FC Cincinnati General Manager. “DaMarcus is a legend of U.S. Soccer, and it’s been incredible to see what he and the team have been building in Fort Wayne. We are excited for the match in June.”
Tickets are on sale now for the match, which will kick off at 7 p.m. on June 7. The match will be played at Shields Field Stadium at Bishop Dwenger High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.
