ROCHESTER, NY – FC Cincinnati 2 snapped a five-game skid Friday night, ending Rochester’s five-game unbeaten run in the process. Isaac Atanga and Nicque Daley scored their first goals for FCC 2 to send the Orange and Blue home with three points.
Atanga was the danger man for FCC 2, tallying three shots in the first half and breaking the deadlock in the 44th minute. Rochester had a number of second half chances but a series of outstanding saves from Beckham Sunderland kept RNYFC off the scoresheet. Sunderland finished with eight saves on the night.
Daley capped of a strong showing for FCC 2, finding the back of the net in the 84th minute. Atanga assisted on the goal.
“We played very well tonight,” said head coach Tyrone Marshall. “We didn’t give them a chance to build through the middle of the field and we won duels in wide channels. Beckham made great saves to keep them from scoring, but our backline did a great job too. Our midfield did as well. Heading home, we have momentum on our side. It’s been a great night for the boys.”
FCC 2 are back home starting next Sunday for the first of a three-game home stand as they take on Inter Miami II on July 31 at NKU Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET.
