FC Cincinnati 2 played to a 5-1 home defeat to Chicago Fire FC II Thursday night at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium. The result keeps the Orange and Blue 12th in the Eastern Conference while Fire II (8-7-7, 33 points) move up into the seventh spot, jumping Huntsville City FC.

Chicago scored three first half goals in route to three points on the road. Luka Prpa scored his third goal of the campaign in the 12th minute, converting from the penalty spot after Cincinnati were called for a hand ball in the box.

Alex Monis, who scored a first half brace, found the back of the net in the 26th minute with a shot from outside the 18-yard box and again in first half stoppage time. Monis’ fourth and fifth goals of the season bring the midfielder into a share of the team lead in the category.

Missael Rodriguez and Billy Hency added two goals late in the second half for Chicago before Arquimides Ordoñez scored in the last minute of stoppage time from the spot to get the Orange and Blue on the board. The goal is Ordoñez’s eighth of the season as he leads all FC Cincinnati 2 players.

FC Cincinnati 2 head back out on the road this Sunday, August 13 to take on Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park at 6 p.m. ET. The match will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV App.
