FC Cincinnati 2 midfielder Salim Adams has been called to represent the U23 Ghana National Team in the country’s upcoming African Cup of Nations (ACON) qualifying matches. The Black Meteors enter the Third Round of qualifying after earning a 4-1 aggregate win against Mozambique in October.
Adams will look to make his first appearance for Ghana when the U23s face Algeria in a home and away series on March 24 and March 28, with the winner earning qualification for the 2023 U23 ACON competition. Morocco will host the fourth edition of the competition with the first match set to be played in June.
Ghana’s best finish in the U23 competition came in 2019, finishing fourth after falling to South Africa in penalties in the third-place match. For more information on the competition, including scores and fixtures, visit cafonline.com.
Adams appeared in all seven preseason matches for FC Cincinnati 2 ahead of the team's 2023 MLS NEXT Pro opener on Monday, March 27 against Toronto FC II at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium.
