The FC Cincinnati Academy finished up a perfect weekend for the second straight week with dominant results. The Young Garys finished with seven wins and no losses across all age groups, with five of the seven wins being shutouts. At home, the U15s, U17s and U19s picked up a win each while the U13s and U14s won two games each over the weekend.
The U19s earned an 8-0 shutout against Columbus Astray. The Orange and Blue were working on both sides of the pitch as goalkeeper Donovan Richardson defended his first clean sheet of the season. On offense, nine players had at least one goal contribution with Chris Nezianya leading the team with a hat trick. Henry Weston and Juan Machado both found the back of the net while Illia Tyrkus assisted on a Bryan Vasquez goal. Oscar Huerta and Nick Samways added goals in the win with Marley Marshall, Machado and Samways adding assists.
The U17s tallied a second win of the day at MHTC as the Young Garys took down Columbus Crew 3-1. Stefan Chirila continues his impressive goal scoring form as the young attacker secured another hat trick as Brandon Bent picked up an assist on one of Chirila’s goals. With the hat trick on Saturday, Chirila notched his 40th goal through the fall and spring seasons.
The weekend frenzy continued with the U15s handing Columbus Crew their first league loss of the season with a 1-0 shutout on Saturday. David Paz was in net for the Young Garys and picked up a clean sheet. Chance Malilo found the back of the net for the lone goal of the match off a pass from Christian Ruiz.
The U14s played the first of a two-match set against Beadling with a 5-2 win on Saturday. Eliel Rodriguez-Zulueta led the team as he scored twice with assists coming from Nathan Stover and Donovan Bazile. Stover tallied a second assist, finding Liam Albright for a goal. Stover and Islam Imran added goals and Stover finished the match with three goal contributions in the win.
The Young Garys dominated in an 8-0 shutout in the second match against Beadling with Zach Crider securing a clean sheet. Five players scored goals as Islam Imran came away with a hat trick, his three goals assisted by Rodriguez-Zulueta, Harlan Smith and Stover. Rodriguez-Zulueta added two goals of his own with Albright picking up an assist. Sam Sullivan netted his first goal of the weekend while Albright and Stover closed out the scoring for the Orange and Blue with assists from Sullivan and Sam Onipko, respectively.
The U13s closed out the weekend for the Young Garys as they defended two 1-0 shutouts against Beadling to improve to 7-0-0 in the spring season. In game one, Xavier Shannon and Ben Saunders shared a clean sheet while Gabriel Jones scored the match winner off a pass from Ryan Schlotterbeck.
Game two on Sunday was the same story, as the duo of Shannon and Saunders shared another clean sheet. Dononavan Bazile scored the only goal of the match with Rudy Von Lehman assisting to secure another 1-0 shutout.
The U15s and U17s host another MHTC doubleheader weekend as both squads play Minnesota United on Saturday, April 27 and Chicago Fire on Sunday, April 28. The U13s and U14s play Lou Fusz in Cincinnati on Saturday, April 27. The U19s continue play in the UPSL as they take on the Indy Gladiators in Zionsville, Indiana on Saturday, May 4.
