The FC Cincinnati Academy embark on their biggest weekend to date when the Under-15 and Under-17 Teams travel to Toronto to play in the Generation adidas (GA) Cup Regional Qualifiers. (For more info about the GA Cup, click here.)
To this point, the two teams have played clubs from within their geographic regions. Now traveling across the Canadian border, the sides will face some of the top academies in MLS – and a local rival. Beginning Thursday, the teams will have matches across three of the next four days.
Here’s the schedule:
Under 15 Team
FCCA vs. New York City FC Academy (Friday)
FCCA vs. Columbus Crew SC Academy (Saturday)
FCCA vs. Orlando City SC Academy (Monday)
Under 17 Team
FCCA vs. New York City FC Academy (Friday)
FCCA vs. Toronto FC Academy (Saturday)
FCCA vs. Atlanta United FC Academy (Monday)
This is an important trip on a number of levels.
While it’s a chance to play good competition – and the first #HellisReal Derby matches, Academy-style – this is also the first time Orange and Blue youth teams will represent the club beyond the nation’s border. As some MLS academies send teams around the world, consider this weekend the start for FCC.
This GA Cup arrives following mixed results for the teams this past weekend at the Mercy Health Training Center. The U-15 Team won, 5-1, while the U-17 Team lost, 3-2. You can read a recap of those matches here.
