FC Cincinnati midfielder Allan Cruz and defender Ronald Matarrita have been called up to the Costa Rica national team for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup. Costa Rica is set to begin tournament play on July 12 (opponent TBA) at Exploria Stadium in Orlando.
Cruz notched his first goal of the season in FC Cincinnati’s 2-0 win over Toronto FC on Saturday. He has earned 21 caps with Costa Rica since making his international debut on Sept. 7, 2018. Cruz has scored twice for the Ticos during his international career.
Matarrita has made 37 appearances with the Ticos since earning his first cap on Sept. 5, 2015. The defender has three career goals for Costa Rica. He played all 90 minutes in the Orange and Blue’s recent road wins over Chicago and Toronto.
FC Cincinnati will return to action this weekend when the club visits Houston. Kickoff is set for Saturday at 8:30 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on WSTR 64, carried on the radio on ESPN1530, streamed regionally on fccincinnati.com/stream, out of market on ESPN+, while an audio stream will be available via the iHeartRadio app.
