CINCINNATI – Today, Major League Soccer announced the addition of FC Cincinnati Forward Brandon Vázquez to the roster for the 2022 MLS All-Star Skills Challenge presented by AT&T 5G, replacing Toronto FC’s Lorenzo Insigne. The annual skills challenge takes place Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN2/TUDN) from Allianz Field in Saint Paul, Minnesota.Â
The All-Star Skills Challenge puts 10 highly-acclaimed MLS players against 10 marquee LIGA MX players in five events in the ultimate test of soccer skills.
The 23-year-old will be the first FC Cincinnati player to represent the club in the All-Star Skills Challenge, which comes the night before Vazquez and Luciano Acosta will be the first two FCC players to represent the club in the MLS All-Star Game (Wednesday, Aug. 10 – 8:30 p.m. ET; ESPN/Univision).
Vazquez’s 14 goals this season are second in MLS this season behind Austin FC’s Sebastián Driussi. None of Vazquez’s 14 goals have come from the penalty spot, tied with Driussi for most in the league. With his fourth goal in the past three games this past Saturday against Philadelphia Union, Vazquez became the first player in FCC history to reach 20 career MLS goals for the Orange and Blue.
FC Cincinnati fans are invited to cheer on Luciano Acosta and Brandon Vazquez when the duo represent the Orange and Blue as the first MLS All-Stars in club history at FCC’s All-Star Game Watch Party on Wednesday, August 10 at Rhinegeist Brewery. The family-friendly event is free and begins at 7:30 p.m. For more information, visit HERE.
The Orange and Blue stay at home to host Atlanta United FC next Saturday, August 13. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. from TQL Stadium and the game can be watched on Star64, streamed in-market at fccincinnati.com, out of market on ESPN+ and listened to on the radio on ESPN 1530.
