Qualifiers for 2022 eMLS League Series 2 presented by Coca-Cola begin Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m. ET and continue at the same time Wednesday, Jan. 26. All 27 MLS clubs will be represented by their eMLS player competing for the chance at the $20,000 prize pool.
The top-eight competitors from qualifiers advance to the quarterfinals, which begin Saturday, Jan. 29 at 3 p.m. ET.
Fans can follow twitch.tv/fccincinnati to be notified when FC Cincinnati’s eMLS player Cissé begins the gauntlet of 12 games in two days beginning Tuesday night.
Cissé went 4-5-5 in eMLS League Series 1 to earn 17 points. He finished in 20th place, but just nine points separated him from eighth place and four points separated him from 11th place. The top-11 players between League Series 1 and 2 qualify for eMLS Cup in Austin, Texas beginning March 12.
“Four wins, five losses and five draws, currently 20th in the rankings and four points away from top-11, which is ultimately the goal ahead of eMLS Cup in March,” Cissé said. “I’d like to emphasize on the five draws, a record I hold for most in the league at the moment. If only I was able to convert two-to-three of those draws into three points, a spot in the quarterfinals could’ve been on the table.
“That being said, although misfortune might have played a hand into those draws, I am my biggest critic and hold full accountability for certain mishaps. Even though I feel like the results don’t give an accurate representation of the actual in-game performances, I am feeling confident about my game and abilities, barring a few mistakes. After countless hours of game analysis from League Series 1, I have identified the areas in which I need to improve on to reach the goals I have set for myself and FC Cincinnati. I am continuing to make strides in order to achieve those goals for League Series 2 Qualifiers.
“Make sure to follow FC Cincinnati’s official Twitch channel to get a notification on when we go live and show some support! I would like to thank the club and the fans for their continuous support, and I hope to make you all proud.”
