Allan Cruz and Kendall Waston started in Costa Rica’s 2-1 win over Bermuda on Thursday night in Frisco, Texas. With the win, the Ticos have six points from two 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup matches, just like their next opponent: Haiti.
The two teams meet Monday night at Red Bull Arena to close group stage play. Costa Rica will win Group B if the teams draw, via goal differential (+5 vs. +3).
Finishing first in the group is more than a bragging point.
If Costa Rica win the group, they'll play the second-place team from Group A, which will likely be Canada. If Haiti win Group B, Mexico will await the Ticos in the next round.
As for Thursday’s match, Waston started at center back, while Cruz was just above him as a center midfielder.
