FC Cincinnati 2 have been named MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchweek for Matchweek 13, the league announced today. The honor comes following the Orange and Blue’s 2-0 road win against Philadelphia Union II at Subaru Park on June 6.
The Orange and Blue earned their seventh win of the year, a season-high for the club, and their fourth win away from home, tied for the second most road wins across the league. FC Cincinnati 2 have won six of their last seven and have not suffered defeat since April 14.
FC Cincinnati 2 held the then MLSNP leaders scoreless for the first time this season, picking up their second shutout of the year in the process. The Orange and Blue are the only team in MLSNP to defeat Union II this season and have done so twice following a 3-1 result at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium on April 28.
Kenji Mboma Dem scored his first and second goals for the Orange and Blue after making his first appearance since April 21 against Atlanta United 2. Moises Tablante assisted on both goals after the duo came on as second half substitutes in the 63rd minute.
It is the second team honor for FC Cincinnati 2 after the club was named MLS NEXT Pro Team of the Matchday in August of 2023. A full list of FC Cincinnati 2 awards are listed below.
