A busy week saw the FC Cincinnati Academy earn three wins in five games across three locations and three days of competition, beginning with a pair of midweek contests at Indiana Fire Academy last Wednesday. The U13s and U14s each had games canceled due to the winter-like weather which hit Cincinnati over the weekend.
A look at how the Young Garys fared in the latest week of FC Cincinnati Academy competition:
Wednesday, March 9
U17 | Indiana Fire Academy 1, FC Cincinnati Academy 2
- The Orange and Blue went down early but battled back to find the equalizer and winner in the final five minutes of the game. Zach Kennedy equalized in the 86th minute, followed by the game-winner from Ryder Mills in the 89th minute to give the visitors a dramatic come-from-behind win.
U19 | Indiana Fire Academy 2, FC Cincinnati Academy 1
- Gerardo Valenzuela scored from the penalty spot for FCC’s goal in the contest.
Saturday, March 13
U15 | Columbus Crew Academy 2, FC Cincinnati Academy 2
- A busy first half saw all four goals scored in the opening 45 minutes. Sam Weeter buried a goal followed by a penalty kick converted by Juan Piedra.
U17 | Columbus Crew Academy 0, FC Cincinnati Academy 2
- Unlike the U15s, the U17 contest was a scoreless deadlock until the 75th minute when Paul Chen’s header off a corner kick rebound gave the Orange and Blue a 1-0 lead. Nicky Samways scored in the 90th minute to seal the 2-0 win over Columbus. Zack Kacic earned the clean sheet protecting the goal.
Sunday, March 14
U19 | Midwest United 0, FC Cincinnati Academy 6
- The U19s had a dominant performance in Grand Rapids, Michigan, as six different goal scorers led to the rout. Kimball Jackson (assisted by Danny Samways), Alen Kapic (Ashton Kamdem), Josh Head (Max Miller), Ashton Kamdem (Owen Parrish), Tre Jervier (Diego Hoenderkamp) and Caleb Frakes (Carson Turpin) tallied the six goals in the Orange and Blue’s strong outing. Jack Moxom saved a penalty kick, holding a clean sheet in goal.

Another busy week awaits the Young Garys, which begins again on Wednesday at Indiana Fire Academy, a matchup for the U15s.
On Saturday the U13 and U14 squads meet local rival Cincinnati United Premier (CUP), while the U15s and U17s welcome MLS-affiliated Texas competition.
