Goalkeeper Evan Newton's double save from the penalty spot in FC Cincinnati's 1-0 win at Indy Eleven on March 31st was selected as the March USL Goal of the Month following a vote by fans around the USL.
Newton's double stop at Lucas Oil Stadium was previously voted as the USL Save of the Week during Week 3 action, and once again proved to be the most popular save in the nation-wide vote. The saves earned 52% of the ballots, comfortably seeing of challengers that included Newton's own acrobatic low save that earned Week 1 USL Save of the Week honors at Charleston.
The Virginia Beach native has also been shortlisted as one of five candidates for the fan vote-driven USL Player of the Month, with the winner due to be announced later this week.
FC Cincinnati will next be in action this coming Sunday, April 15th, for a 2pm kickoff at Bethlehem before returning home on Saturday, April 21st, for a 7pm match up against Pittsburgh Riverhounds. Tickets for that match can be found here.
