CINCINNATI – FC Cincinnati and WDJO have announced that the local oldies format radio station is the new “Flagship Radio Station of FC Cincinnati” for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
FCC’s game will be simulcast on three of the network’s stations in the Greater Cincinnati area: 99.5 FM, 107.9 FM and 1480 AM.
In addition to the over-the-air coverage, the WDJO radio broadcasts will be available on TuneIn by searching WDJO, as well as fccincinnati.com, making the radio call available to fans on desktop or mobile devices.
The relationship will begin this Saturday, March 2, when FC Cincinnati kicks off in its first-ever Major League Soccer game at Seattle Sounders FC at 10 p.m. ET.
As the new “Flagship Radio Station” of FCC, WDJO will carry all of FC Cincinnati’s games live on all three stations, and will also extend each show to a 2.5-hour window to accommodate a 30-minute postgame show during each broadcast.
Further terms of the agreement were not released.
“We’re very pleased to welcome WDJO to the FC Cincinnati family,” FC Cincinnati Senior Vice President of Sponsorship and Broadcast Vince Cicero said. “Having an over-the-air radio partner who is not only committed to airing our games on the same spot on the dial week-in and week-out is fantastic, but also who is committing to do it on the same three stations every game is even better for our fans. We’re looking forward to our first broadcast this weekend from Seattle.”
“Everyone at WDJO is excited to be part of the inaugural MLS season with FCC,” Robert Nolan, WDJO owner, said. “We’re looking forward to a great year helping fans enjoy the matches on the radio.”
The FC Cincinnati broadcast team of Tom Gelehrter (play-by-play), Kevin McCloskey (analyst) and Lindsay Patterson (sideline) will handle the call of the games on WDJO.
FC Cincinnati’s debut MLS game will be played this Saturday, March 2, when the team travels to face Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field in a game televised nationally on FS1 and on the radio locally on WDJO (99.5 FM, 107.9 FM and 1480 AM). The Orange and Blue will make their home debut as an MLS team at Nippert Stadium on Sunday, March 17, when the team hosts MLS Cup finalist Portland Timbers at 5 p.m. Season tickets, mini plans and individual-game tickets are on sale at fccincinnati.com/tickets or by calling 513-977-5425 (KICK).
