FC Cincinnati 2/Matchup Notes
The matchup – It will be just the second ever meeting between Cincinnati and CT United when the sides face off Thursday night. The first meeting took place at Scudamore Field at NKU Soccer Stadium in the Orange and Blue’s 2026 MLS NEXT Pro season opener, a match in which CT United won 3-1.
Stefan Chirila, who converted from the penalty spot in the 71st minute, was the lone goalscorer for FCC 2 on the night.
Making an impact – Goalkeeper Connor Dale has started back-to-back matches for FCC 2 and has been impressive in his first two matches at the MLS NEXT Pro level. Dale made his debut between the sticks against New England Revolution II on June 7, where he made five saves and kept the Revs off the scoresheet until the final seconds of the match.
Against Columbus a week later, Dale made four saves, which included a penalty save against Chase Adams to keep the match level at 0-0 in the second half. Dale is the eighth FC Cincinnati Academy player to make an MLS NEXT Pro debut this season.
A rare summer road trip – Thursday’s match will be the first road match for FCC 2 in nearly a month. Five of FCC 2’s six matches taking place – or those that have been played – during the MLS World Cup pause (May 25-July 16) are home fixtures.
The Orange and Blue are still in search of their first road points of the season.

CT United FC are approaching the midway point of their inaugural season in MLS NEXT Pro and enter this week’s match on the back of a 4-2 road win against Toronto FC II. Thursday’s meeting against Cincinnati will kick off a stretch of eight consecutive home matches for CT United where they have yet to earn points this season.
The Coywolves have found rhythm in their attack over recent weeks, having scored in four consecutive matches and are averaging 2.5 goals per game over that stretch. Leading goalscorer Alex Monis leads the charge with five goals and three assists and has found the back of the net in three of his last four league appearances.
Alongside Monis is midfielder Daniel D’Ippolito. D’Ippolito scored twice in the win against Toronto. After featuring off the bench for most of CT United’s season, D’Ippolito has started in two of the last three and has three goals over his last 184 minutes played.
CT United have just one clean sheet this season, coming against New England Revolution II back on May 3 and rank in the bottom half of the league in terms of goals conceded. Looking to right the ship defensively is Lukas Kamrath, who has started all 13 games for the Coywolves. Goalkeepers Anthony Ramos and Gunther Rankenburg split time in goal and enter the match with nine and 21 saves, respectively.
