Emery Welshman and FC Cincinnati parted ways Friday morning when the club announced a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. Welshman had been on loan with Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League.
The Guyana international had an unlucky start to 2019 when he looked lively as a right winger in FCC’s first preseason match on Jan. 30 at IMG Academy, but injured his hamstring and was sidelined the rest of preseason before his loan move to the first-year Canadian club.
Welshman hasn’t been part of Cincinnati’s 30-man active roster, so his departure won’t change much from that perspective, but it allows the attacking player a fresh start abroad for the 27-year-old entering the prime of his career.
