Cincinnati fans, you’re the best. Literally.
Earlier this month, WalletHub released a study that found the Queen City has the best fan base of any mid-size city in the country. (Overall, Cincinnati ranked 16th nationally among all cities.)
But this isn’t a surprise.
In Cincinnati, people treat sporting events as a cathartic release. No wonder why residents remained obsessed with their high schools and check scores every Saturday morning despite graduating years ago.
The two biggest days in Cincinnati every year are, unsurprising, about sports: Reds Opening Day and the Skyline Crosstown Shootout.
And, you show just as much passion for the Orange and Blue.
Yeah, 2019 was the first season in MLS, so it’s a big deal being in the big leagues, but you still showed up loss after loss as the club rebuilt itself.
Across MLS, FC Cincinnati finished third in average attendance. The two teams above them – Atlanta United FC and Seattle Sounders FC – play in much bigger NFL stadiums … and have won the last two MLS Cups.
FCC only won six games last year.
Cincinnati fans keep an eternal optimism that clearly hasn’t gone unnoticed. Now, it’s up to FC Cincinnati and the other professional teams in the area to match your passion with on-field performance.
Just as you have an undying passion, the FCC technical staff is scouring the globe to find the right players to create a winning club. Players, who’ve constantly praised your enthusiasm, are ready to give you more.
While this is the offseason, it’s a chance to reflect – and a chance to say thank you.
Thank you for your passion and loyalty. Thank you for believing better days are coming.
They are. But now we just have to wait until the 2020 season to see that come true.
