FC Cincinnati’s Dominique Badji and Last Mile Food Rescue, a local food rescue nonprofit, recently partnered to provide food delivery for in-need residents of the greater Cincinnati area. Badji and Last Mile Food Rescue met at TQL Stadium Monday morning as Badji made his first food delivery to St. Vincent de Paul.
“I wanted to get more involved with the local community,” said Badji. “Last Mile Food Rescue is an organization I’ve wanted to work with for a while now and we were able to set this up prior to the start of preseason.”
Last Mile Food Rescue connects local food donors and volunteers with other nonprofit organizations that provide saved, fresh food, that would otherwise be thrown away, and get it to those who need it most.
“We’re here to rescue fresh food from TQL Stadium,” said Tom Fernandez, co-founder of Last Mile Food Rescue. “The hunger problem in Cincinnati is horrible, so donations from TQL Stadium help close that gap here.”
TQL Stadium is one of over 100 food donor locations in and around Cincinnati that works directly with Last Mile Food Rescue. Badji will continue to deliver for Last Mile Food Rescue throughout the year, making more deliveries to those facing food insecurity.
“It’s important to give back to local communities,” said Badji. “The values and morals instilled in me when I was young always pointed towards giving back when you were able to and, thankfully, I’m able to do that. Hopefully, I can help influence others to get involved.”
