FC Cincinnati head coach Jaap Stam has made one change to the starting lineup ahead of Sunday night’s #HellisReal Derby, as Yuya Kubo will replace Haris Medunjanin.
About the changes
Kubo returns to the starting XI after being a second-half substitute in Wednesday night’s scoreless draw against Chicago Fire FC. His most recent start was Saturday, Aug. 29, against Columbus at Nippert Stadium.
Additionally, goalkeeper Spencer Richey is back in the matchday squad for the first time since July 16, when Cincinnati beat Atlanta United FC, 1-0. If he plays, it’ll be his first appearance for the Orange and Blue since March 7 at Atlanta. Richey replaces Nick Hagglund in the matchday squad.
About the absentees
Saad Abdul-Salaam, Allan Cruz, Nick Hagglund and Jimmy McLaughlin will miss the derby with injuries.
Kamohelo Mokotjo remains overseas and won’t be officially added to the Cincinnati roster until he receives a work visa. Álvaro Barreal, who joined the club last week, will also be added to the roster upon the receipt of his International Transfer Certificate, P1 Visa and completion of any mandatory quarantine period under local government and MLS health and safety protocol.
