Two FC Cincinnati players have earned places on Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week for Week 12. Defender Nick Hagglund and midfielder Haris Medunjanin earned a place in the Starting XI for their performances at New York Red Bulls. This is the first Team of the Week honors for both players this season.
FC Cincinnati claimed the club’s first win since the MLS is Back Tournament by defeating the New York Red Bulls, 1-0, at Red Bull Arena on Saturday night. In addition, the club recorded its sixth clean sheet in 12 matches.
Medunjanin scored his first goal for the Orange and Blue in the 85th minute. From the corner flag, Medunjanin tucked his shot inside the far post, scoring the sixth Olimpico goal in MLS history. The Bosnian midfielder was very active in the game, leading the team with 105 touches and 36 passes in the opposition’s half.
In his first start of the season, Hagglund was a key element as Cincinnati notched its sixth shutout of the season. The defender led the team with six interceptions while adding three tackles and three clearances. Hagglund won 13-of-16 duels for an 81.3% success rate.
